Prospero Capital Recovery was founded by Nik Bhasin who has been a veteran in the financial services industry in the U.S. for over 25 years. Starting his career as a stockbroker in 1992 as a General Securities Representative with both his Series 7 & Series 63 certifications. He then qualified to be a General Securities Principal with his Series 24 certification. This certification entitles the holder to supervise and manage activities at a Broker-Dealer. He then went on to head his independent Office of Supervisory Jurisdiction (OSJ) for an established Broker-Dealer. With the tremendous success of the OSJ and this invaluable experience under his belt, he decided to open his own Broker-Dealer firm with offices in New York City and West Palm Beach.
As President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nik took on the comprehensive responsibility for his firm. He used a complete and overarching, “hands-on” approach for recruitment, sales training, compliance, and operations. But his principal role was that of the corporate executive of the firm. Nik acted as the liaison between the firm’s in-house legal counsel as well as seven other external law firms and regulatory authorities. Namely, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) as well as every state department’s local financial regulators. In this capacity, Nik has extensive experience in both arbitration as well as mediation as he personally attended and worked closely with legal counsel to defend the firm on matters ranging from customer complaints to regulatory investigations. He provided testimony at numerous mediations, arbitrations and on-the-record interviews and hearings on behalf of himself, various named stockbrokers, as well as the firm. As Nik was the President and CEO he had autonomy over the tactics and positions that the firm would take in these proceedings.
As stated above, Nik has invaluable insight on the inner workings of a brokerage company and has extensive experience in handling matters related to the SEC and FINRA. For over a decade, Nik has become well versed in the rules and regulations set by the SEC and FINRA.
All financial institutions are subject to customer protection rules and are required to adhere to a code of business ethics. Customer protection rules are designed to be global, not just tailored to one sovereign market but rather tied to an international code that all securities companies must follow in order to be ethical in business and assure credibility to their capital markets. While FINRA’s motto is “Investor Protection, Market Integrity”, the SEBI preamble states, in part, that their objective is to, “Protect the interest of the investors in securities and to promote the development of, and to regulate, the securities market…”
Nik has since left the securities industry in order to pursue lucrative ventures in the fields of Cryptocurrencies, Hedge Fund Management, and now, consulting. Over the course of his career, Nik has developed and fostered close relationships with numerous specialty securities law firms, securities attorneys, industry regulators, forensic accountants, and CPA’s. Nik now works with Indian-based customers who have lost personal investment in the stock market due to firm negligence, improper trading practices, etc. Nik offers his FREE consulting and recovery service to select clients, FREE of charge.
